May Cinema Month at Franks Vintage Camera
A 20th Year Anniversary Showing
May has always been an important month for releasing big impact movie. These ‘Big Tent’ movies traditionally come out Memorial Day Weekend, which the Hollywood studios use to kickoff the Summer Blockbuster season. So every May, for as long as I can remember, I have chosen 2-3 movies that give me an excuse to go to movie theaters. The Accountant 2 and Thunderbolts* are catching my eye so far.. but as a Star Wars fan, I was just jonzen to see Star Wars up on the big screen again, and fortunately for us fans, ‘Revenge of the Sith’ was released during the last month of April. So I began with that..
My Google Review
I had the pleasure of seeing probably the best of the Star Wars prequels, Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith. It's been 20 years since it was released, and with May the 4th day around the corner, I wanted to get out to a local cinema and take in the audience experience. The place was packed, with Star Wars fans of all ages, but the majority were Millennials, who probably were reared on the prequels, just as we Gen Xers were raised to the Star Wars saga back in the 70's & early 80's. Once I saw young Anikans walking around swinging their 'light swords' in the audience.. I truly felt at home. ⭐⭐⭐ stars for the film, but 4 Jedi ⭐s for the multi-general theater going experience!
The Gen X Star Wars Mystic
Going to see the latest Star Wars movie, has always been a big part of growing up. Sometimes, I think it defines a big part of being from Generation X. We were a theater-going generation, and no matter where you lived in America, small town or big, the local cinema was always a major a part of the fabric of experiencing culture and entertainment. As kids growing up in Southern Oregon, my friends & I anxiously awaited the Medford Mail Tribune’s Entertainment section, to see what was playing. In 2015, my partner and I eagerly anticipated the return of Star Wars to the modern age, and bought tickets early to make sure we caught the very first showing of ‘The Force Awakens’.
