Gumbo Social Po-Boys & Nikon F3s

Last Sunday, Gumbo Social celebrated their 2nd anniversary as a legacy business at the Outer Sunset Farmers Market; which began during the Pandemic, and turned out to be a great solution, to providing Sunset neighborhood folk, with a safe and fun place to enjoy an outdoor market during the scourge of the Pandemic.

I’ve struck up many photography related conversations, with “Brett” about one day shooting with some 35mm film cameras - since he’s always taken an interest in the cameras I bring to share to the Market Place.

Lately, I’ve been shooting with a Nikon F3 with a Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 wide angle lens on it. I gave it to Brett to take a test drive. He really liked the way the shutter sounded and also the quickness of the film advance in the Nikon MD-4 motor drive. We talked about how in the days before digital, this kind of 35mm film set-up was greatly used by sports shooters and photo journalists. And, soon he’ll be taking an AP Photography class and telling his own stories.

Verve35mm would certainly like to help photographers out there get geared up with a 35mm film cameras & film stock. Check out what we have this week at our store.
